Formal but approachable was the goal for this dining room. Our clients have kids, pets, and love to spend time with family and friends so they didn’t want this to just be an unused space. While they use their eat-in dining area in the kitchen for breakfast and lunch, this dining room still has the elements of moodiness they love so much.
We just have to talk about the ceiling first! We took inspo from the greens in the rug to choose the ceiling color. It’s unexpected to have a muted green ceiling but the color makes the entire room feel cozier. The chandelier’s hammered metal contrasts beautifully with the soft fabric of the shades and the oversized shape of it gives the room a grand feel without being untouchable.
The solid wood dining table is paired with these brown striped dining chairs. The striped fabric feels casual in a welcoming way, like “yes you can sit here” is what the chairs would say if they could speak.
The drapery has a beautiful scroll jacquard pattern that fits nicely against the more traditional pattern of the rug! The sideboard allows for practical storage while the fluting is a way to play with lines. The mirror sits directly across from the windows so it brings in light to what would otherwise be a dark corner…plus you can check to see if you have anything in your teeth post dinner.
